The Hi Hi’s followed up their fine win at Luncarty by taking all three points against Tynecastle in a Premier Division match at Millfield last Saturday. The Edinburgh side had never lost in the Premier League at Millfield but at one stage it looked as though they could be on the wrong end of a big defeat.

Not surprisingly, manager Scott Bonar sent out the side which hit  Luncarty for seven, but they fell behind in the opening stages when their left winger created a chance for Nicolson to fire past McLellan with the aid of a defection. The Hi Hi’s played their way into the game and the Tynecastle goalkeeper was called into action on several occasions as the home side warmed to their task. The equaliser arrived on the half hour mark when skipper Nik Aitchison turned in Seamus Russell’s powerful header following a corner from the left. Haddington were knocking the ball around with confidence and it was no surprise when they took the lead through a powerful finish from Grant Rose. It was one way traffic at this stage and Tom Davies hit the bar before Rose extended the home lead on the stroke of half time. Ross King supplied a low ball from the left and Rose clinically finished.

Haddington started the second half as they finished off the first, with both Kennedy and Windram having efforts cleared off the line. Then Tom Davies headed over when a goal seemed likely but the visitors stuck to their task and once again the same combination threw them a lifeline when Nicolson scored from point blank range in the 56th minute. The visitors were more in the game now with Haddington trying to regain their first half fluency. However the home nerves were settled in the 68th minute when the visitors defence didn’t seem to appreciate the danger when Rose picked up a long ball from King and restored the two goal lead with a low finish.

This was an excellent result for the Hi Hi’s who played some super stuff especially towards the end of the first half.
