Just eight days after the Hi Hi’s were victorious in a RJM Sports League Cup meeting between the two sides, Haddington Athletic welcomed Bo’ness Athletic to Millfield on Saturday, 28 March for a Premier Division fixture.

The match got off to the best possible start when Ryan Cameron fired us ahead after three minutes, finishing expertly from a tight angle on the right of the box, after the goalkeeper committed himself in vain. Our striker was back on the scoresheet to double our advantage just three minutes later, capitalising on a mistake to slot home. Captain Luke Kennedy scored our third goal on 44 minutes, courtesy of a placed show from 18 yards out, beating the opposition goalkeeper Sam Ramsbottom just inside his left-hand post.

While we deserved to be ahead at the break, Athletic certainly had their chances and looked lively going forward with our goalkeeper Jamie Smith doing well when called upon, but the visitors often caught out at the back or gave the ball away.

Our fourth of the afternoon arrived on 64 minutes and it was another goal for Luke Kennedy. From 20 yards out, his shot hit the inside of one post before ending up in the net. Having been joined at the top of our scoring chart for the season earlier in the match, Tom Davies got in on the scoring after 86 minutes with a finish from a few yards out, having been set up by unselfish substitute Evan Bonar. It proved to be a comprehensive win over opposition ahead of us in the league table, with another good team performance and a second successive shutout for Jamie Smith.

We’re back in action on Saturday, 4 April when we entertain Newtongrange Star in a Premier Division fixture.
