Our Scottish Cup dream is over for another year, after a 2-0 defeat by Cumbernauld Colts at Millfield on Saturday.
Despite an effort to be proud of, in the end we fell just a little short, with Colts goalkeeper David Wilson doing outstandingly well more than once to break Hi Hi’s hearts towards the end of the match. We exit the competition with heads held high, and look forward to next time.
For the first time we played three Scottish Cup ties in one season – our previous best was two in our first two participations 2020-21 and 2021-22, after which we’d endured four successive first hurdle exits. Also, thinking back to events three weeks back at Drumchapel our 3-0 win in the Third Preliminary Round has to rank as one of the great Hi Hi’s results when everything’s weighed up – in Scottish Cup terms maybe not quite up there with the BSC Glasgow win in our very first tie almost six years ago, but not terribly far behind.
