Last Saturday, we travelled to Midlothian to face Penicuik Athletic to begin the second third of our 2025/26 Premier Division campaign.
In a first half of few chances, Tom Davies came closest to the breakthrough shortly before half-time with an effort curled just wide.
But it was the home side who would go on to score the only goal of the game after 63 minutes, when captain Sandy Cunningham fired home from close range after a corner from the right that wasn’t dealt with effectively. The Hi Hi’s came close to levelling once or twice, but it wasn’t to be in what was a scrappy affair overall, with little fluid football being played.
This Saturday, we welcome Sauchie Juniors to Millfield.
The first league match between the two sides last season, played at Millfield in August 2024, saw Sauchie score three goals without reply. However, the Hi Hi’s were subsequently awarded a 1-0 win due to the visitors fielding an ineligible player. The sides met again in March at Beechwood Park, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw. We also met in the third round of the League Cup at Millfield in April, with the Hi Hi’s winning 2-0.
Sauchie were defeated 2-0 by Clachnacuddin last Saturday in the Scottish Cup Second Round.
