One week on from their league defeat at Tranent, manager Joe Hamill was without no fewer than nine players for their return visit this time in the South of Scotland Cup. The Hi Hi’s could not have got off to a worse start s their inexperienced back four conceded inside the first minute. When the visitors went three down after 21 minutes an even bigger defeat than last week looked a certainty. But Haddington resumed in determined mood and Jones pulled one back in 48 minutes with a fine solo effort. Minutes later a long range effort from Darren Leslie flew past Alysandratos and all of a sudden there was only one in it. Jones looked like he had grabbed an unlikely equaliser when his powerfully hit shot inched past the far post. Tranent restored their two goal advantage and ran out winners by four goals to two.
