High flying Bonnyrigg proved too strong a proposition at Millfield last Saturday when they met Haddington in the third round of the East of Scotland Cup. The Hi Hi’s had claimed a Superleague scalp in the previous round when they beat Bo’ness United at Newtown Park, but Bonnyrigg arrived at Millfield on the back of big wins against Linlithgow and Newtongrange. The home side gave a good account of themselves in the first half and should have taken the lead when a good move saw Andy Jones one on one with Rose ‘keeper but his shot was saved. But once the Rose moved ahead there was always only going to be one winner. The visitors got stronger as the match progressed although the final 5 1 scoreline was a bit harsh on the Hi Hi’s.
