The Hi Hi’s lost out by the only goal of the game when they met neighbours Tranent in a Conference B match at a murky Millfield on Saturday. A good crowd saw Haddington create a number of opportunities and hit the woodwork twice before the break. Andy Jones missed two one to ones and Hamish Law had a  shot headed off the goal line. Recent home signing Gary Nicholson rattled the bar with Tranent ‘keeper Inglis well beaten. The Hi Hi’s were made to pay for these misses when Tranent scored the only goal in the 62nd minute. Former Millfield favourite Bob Berry saw his header pushed onto the post by home goalkeeper Cornet, but home skipper George Cunningham inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net.

Manager Joe Hamill, while disappointed by the outcome, was pleased with the effort of his players. He will need the same level of performance when his side visit league leaders Bonnyrigg Rose at New Dundas Park on Saturday.
