The ties from the second Preliminary Round of the Scottish Cup take place this Saturday and Haddington face a difficult trip to Fife to meet St Andrews United at Recreation Park. The Fifers hit a difficult spell a couple of seasons ago ending up in the Second Division. However promotion to the First Division was secured at the first time of asking and they are are certainly on an upward trajectory as their early season form sees them in the promotion places. A 6-2 win at Whitehill Welfare last Saturday shows that they will fancy their chances of creating a cup upset.
Haddington manager Scott Bonar is well aware of the threat that St Andrews pose but his squad have performed admirably so far this season, and they will have the backing of the biggest travelling support that the Millfield side have carried since suffering late heartache at Brechin in the same competition in 2021. With no replays in the Scottish Cup now, the tie will be settled on the day and Haddington will be hoping that it is their name that goes into the draw for the first round.
