Haddington and Lothian Thistle HV meet at Millfield on Saturday only weeks after playing each other at the same venue in the Premier League. On that occasion LTHV arrived at Millfield on the back off an impressive league win over champions elect Linlithgow Rose in West Lothian the previous week. The capital side looked odds on to add another three points to their tally when they moved into an early lead, but the Hi Hi’s had other ideas and in arguably their best home performance of the season, they ran out convincing winners by five goals to one. They hit back with first half goals from McGarry, Williams and Auriemma to see them lead 3 1 at the break. In an incredible second half both King and Szemis missed penalty kicks before late goals from Auriemma and Tait put the result beyond doubt.

At stake tomorrow is a place in the last sixteen of the East of Scotland League Cup. Both clubs had straightforward first round victories with Haddington beating Craigroyston 5 0 at Millfield and LTHV seeing off Ormiston Primrose 3 0 at Ainslie Park. Lothian will be out to avenge that recent heavy league defeat and the Hi Hi’s will have to be at their best if they are to progress to the third round of the competition. Manager Scott Bonar has a couple of injury worries and will leave it until the last minute to name his starting line up.
