The Hi Hi’s play their penultimate home Premier Division match of the season this Saturday when Whitburn Juniors visit Millfield. Like some of their West Lothian counterparts, Whitburn were later in joining the East of Scotland set up and have had to work their way up from the bottom. Successive promotions have been required to get them to the top league and on their day they are a match for most teams.
When the sides met at Central Park at the start of November a goal from Joe Tait in the second half gave the Hi Hi’s a deserved share of the points. Another close match is expected tomorrow with both sides aiming for fourth spot in the league. This is Haddington’s third season in the East of Scotland’s top tier and they are determined, once again, to at least finish in the top half of the table.
Manager Scott Bonar has a few injury issues but will have both Corey Robertson and Lucas McGarry available again. Ali Simpson will miss the remainder of the season and will require a knee operation which is scheduled for June. It will be a few months into next season before the popular midfielder is back in action.
