The Hi Hi’s have madeĀ  a solid start to the new season despite some off the field distractions. An opening day draw at Dunipace in sweltering conditions reflected a close game. Guy McGarry almost took all three points back to Millfield when he struck the post in the closing stages. Millfield was looking at its best last Wednesday evening when a crowd of 162 saw the Hi Hi’s beat a hard working Arniston Rangers side. Goals from Shaun Hill, Guy McGarry, Ryan Hutchison and Euan Watson gave the home side a 4-1 win. Haddington travelled to Easthouses for a King Cup tie last Saturday. Despite the high temperatures both sides put in plenty of effort. Scott Bonar was missing a few players but those present gave him maximum effort. It was 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes with Seamus Russell scoring his first goal for the Hi Hi’s. Gordon Harris put the visitors ahead in the first period of extra time but Easthouses scored a spectacular equaliser in the second period of extra time. It took penalties to decide the tie with the Hi Hi’s winning 4-2.
