The Hi Hi’s hope to be in competitive action for the first time in 2025 when Premier Division leaders Musselburgh visit Millfield on Saturday. The pair were due to meet on the first Saturday of 2025 but Millfield was unplayable. Since then Musselburgh have managed matches against Hamilton Accies, Camelon and Dundonald Bluebell while Haddington have had to be content with two friendly outings. So as well as a fourteen point advantage in the league, Musselburgh will have the edge in match fitness.
The game will give Haddington the opportunity to pay tribute to the late Jim Thomson who would have celebrated 50 years with the Hi Hi’s next season. The game will also be the first competitive game to be played in front of the new Donaldson Family Stand and home officials are hoping for a big attendance at the match to mark both events.
League leaders Musselburgh will be strong favourites to take all three points but Haddington manager and his players will be hoping to cause an upset. Latest signing Ryan Quinn from Penicuik Athletic may make his Haddington debut but both Tom Davies and Mark McGovern are regaining full fitness after lengthy lay offs and they will also be challenging for starting positions. Skipper Nick Aitchison is also nearing full fitness and the home squad is looing stronger than it was a few weeks ago.
