The Hi Hi’s face another league derby clash this Saturday when Premier Division leaders, Musselburgh Athletic, provide the opposition in Millfield’s first match of 2025. Despite an uncharacteristic poor performance at Dunbar, manager Scott Bonar and his players will be looking forward to what will be a special day at Millfield. It’s the first home match since former President and Secretary, Jim Thomson, passed away, and there will be a minutes applause, preceded by a tribute from pipers from Haddington Pipe Band. It is also the very first time that the recently installed, Donaldson Family Stand, will be in use for a competitive fixture and everyone is looking forward to what should be a terrific occasion. A crowd of around 500 is expected with league leaders Musselburgh hoping to bring a big support.

Haddington will be boosted by the return of skipper Nick Aitchison, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury. His central defensive partner, Craig Reid, returned last week after missing a few games and the home defence will have a familiar look again. Manager Bonar will be expecting a reaction after last week but Musselburgh were not at their best when they drew with Penicuik at Olive Bank. When the sides met at Olive Bank back in August, it was goalless at the break, but two goals after the interval saw the points remain in Musselburgh. The Hi Hi’s will be looking to cause an upset on Saturday.
