Haddington faced a tough task at Millfield last Saturday when in form Lothian Thistle Hutchie Vale provided the opposition. Once again a lack of strikers hampered manager Joe Hamill’s selection. The visitors, unbeaten since early December, made a confident start but it was the Hi Hi’s who scored the only goal of the half through Andy Jones. A good crowd saw Jones extend the home lead midway through the second half. Athletic substitute Lewis Sives had a great chance to put the result beyond all doubt but he was thwarted by a good save from the Lothian goalkeeper.

The city side put in a grandstand finish and goals in the 87th and 89th minutes saw them rescue a point. A draw was probably a fair reflection on play but the HiĀ  Hi’s will rue these late lapses as it could have a major impact on their top 5 ambitions.
