The Hi Hi’s play their final Premier League match of the season at Millfield on Saturday when Jeanfield Swifts from Perth provide the opposition. Haddington can be pleased with their efforts in their first season in the competitive Premier Division. The aim at the start of the season was to avoid relegation and that goal was achieved weeks ago and a top half finish is guaranteed. The Millfield side were plagued by injuries in the first part of the season and it looked as though they might get caught up in the relegation battle when they sat with 13 points from as many games in early November. However the Hi Hi’s then put together an impressive run with just two defeats in 16 league games which has earned them 34 points. Manager Scott Bonar, his coaches and players deserve great credit for this.

One of the low points in the first half of the season was the performance at Jeanfield in early October when the visitors found themselves three down after just twenty minutes. The eventualĀ  4-1 defeat still hurts and the players will be hoping to gain some revenge tomorrow and also finish their league campaign on a high. They certainly want to avoid Jeanfield completing a league double with champions Linlithgow the only team so far to inflict two league defeats on the Hi Hi’s. Manager Scott Bonar may have Seamus Russell available again after illness but midfield powerhouse Ali Simpson has a knee injury which will end his season prematurely.
