Haddington are back in action this weekend when they travel to West Lothian to meet Whitburn Juniors at Central Park. This will be the first competitive match between the clubs in senior football and Whitburn’s belated entry into the East of Scotland League has seen them move through the divisions and gaining promotion to the top tier last season. A formidable opponent in their junior days the West Lothian club regularly picked up silverware. The last meeting between the sides was in junior football at Millfield in 2018 and it was the Hi Hi’s last match as a junior side. On that day, a late gal from Andy Jones gave Haddington all three points in a 2-1 win.

Manager Scott Bonar would be happy with such a scoreline tomorrow as his side trail Whitburn by one point. The gap between the sides was closed as Haddington were one of four clubs awarded three points after Sauchie were deducted fifteen points as a result of playing ineligible player(s) earlier in the season. Team boss Bonar will be without striker Grant Rose who is serving the first of a two game ban, and midfield man Robbie Peffers who is recovering from a foot injury. A tough ninety minutes is in prospect as the Hi Hi’s strive to keep in touch with league leaders Musselburgh.
