Manager Joe Hamill was forced to field an understrength side for the first of two successive visits to Tranent. The referee took centre stage in an entertaining first half in which the Hi Hi’s gave a good account of themselves but they trailed 3-1 at the break and an early second half goal from Tranent killed off any prospect of a fightback. The home side then profited from a series of errors from the visitors and a missed penalty from Jordan Cropley added to their woes.
Haddington’s extensive injury list isn’t getting any shorter and to compound things, skipper George Cunningham is suspended for Saturdays’ South of Scotland Cup tie. The Hi Hi’s were unbeaten in this fixture between 2012 and 2018 but Tranent have assembled a good squad this season especially after recruiting former Hi Hi’s Bob Berry, Chris Inglis, Haris Alysandratos and Chris Robertson.
