Haddington bounced back from their defeat by Camelon in the South of Scotland Cup, by travelling to Perth and beating Premier League club, Jeanfield Swifts, in the Football Nation Qualifying Cup. Manager Joe Hamill was without skipper George Cunningham and fielded two 18 year olds, Jordan Keenan and Seamus Russell in central defence. Goalkeeper Dale Cornet came back into the starting line up and his performance was a key factor in the Hi Hi’s success. Jeanfield edged a keenly contested first half and led by a solitary goal at the break. The visitors stuck to their task and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 72nd minute when Ryan Hutchison profited from some indecision in the home defence and chipped in the equaliser. the Hi Hi’s grew in confidence and scored what proved to be the winner in the 84th minute when Jordan Keenan headed in a corner from Gordon Harris. Substitute Hamish Law saw red in the aftermath but the visitors held on for a cup upset.
