The Hi Hi’s progressed to the next round of the South Challenge Cup when they beat county rivals Dunbar United at Millfield last Saturday. There they will meet league rivals Leith Athletic in another Millfield tie. There have been some good crowds at Millfield this season almost 350 spectators turned up to see this keenly anticipated match. Unbeaten Haddington were hoping to match last season’s twelve match run but manager Scott Bonar was without four key players. Shaun Hill, Aaron Congalton, Seamus Russell and recent signing Fraser Eddington.

The home side got off to the best possible start when Gabri Auriemma curled in a 20 yard shot in the fourth minute. Dunbar fought their way back and levelled the tie on the half hour mark. The Hi Hi’s were by far the more likely side in the second half and the Dunbar goal had a few narrow escapes before Lough was brought down in the box in the closing minutes. Gordon Harris calmly stroked the ball past the Dunbar goalkeeper to give his side a deserved win much to the delight of a big home support.
