Vale of Leithen made their first competitive appearance at Millfield last Saturday coming off the back of a heavy defeat at Olive Bank the previous Saturday. Haddington manager Scott Bonar made a few changes from the side that drew with Penicuik. Campbell McLellan replaced Dale Cornet in goal and former Kilmarnock youngster, Keir Russell made his competitive debut in midfield. Only minutes into the match the home side lost Lucas McGarry through injury and recent signing Marc Forsyth, from Preston Athletic, came on to make his debut. The Vale, obviously fired up by their new manager, were full of running and chances were few and far between in a forgettable forty five minutes. The home stepped up the pace after the break and they broke the deadlock when Guy McGarry flicked the ball into the net from close range. The same player came close to adding a second minutes later but it was one way traffic towards the Vale goal. The Hi Hi’s scored a second in the closing stages when McGarry collected a pass from Auriemma and netted with a low shot. The win extends Haddington’s unbeaten run to seven matches.
