It was unfortunate that there were no spectators present to witness Haddington’s Scottish Cup exploits last season when the Hi Hi’s scored a memorable victory over Lowland League side BSC Glasgow at Alloa before conceding a late winner to Formartine United at Millfield on a stormy Boxing Day.

Haddington face another Highland League side tomorrow when they make the long trip to Banff  to face Deveronvale at Princess Royal Park. Deveronvale sit two tiers above Haddington in the SFA Pyramid system but so did BSC! Manager Scott Bonar and his players and club officials will travel north on Friday so that the players are given the best possible chance to cause another upset. They know that it won’t be easy with Deveronvale coming from behind to beat Clachnacudden in Inverness last Saturday. Just like going into the match against Formartine, the Hi Hi’s are defending a twelve match unbeaten run but they will be hoping to go one better tomorrow. Manager Bonar’s team selection will depend on a few fitness tests as well as the results of the Covid tests that his squad have been undergoing this week in line with SFA protocols.
