The Hi Hi’s made a winning start to the delayed 20/21 season when they met Dunipace at Millfield last Saturday. It was all a bit surreal with no spectators allowed in and players having to come ready to play. Dunipace were a big, physical side and they made a confident start. The home side had the edge in terms of possession and they missed a glorious chance to take the lead when Auriemma saw his weak penalty saved in the 35th minute. Local lad Ano Subasic, making his competitive debut, had the ball in the net following a fine move but it was chalked off for handball. Minutes later the same player scored after the visitors goalkeeper could only parry a shot from Ross King. Subasic struck again early in the second half after being set up by Shaun Hill and Haddington’s task was made easier when Dunipace were reduced to 10 men following a rash challenge on Hill.

The Hi Hi’s controlled the remainder of the match and were well worth the three points.
