The Hi Hi’s completed a tough series of pre-season friendly matches when they travelled to Shawlands in Glasgow to meet Pollok at Newlandsfield Park. The Glasgow side had finished runners up to Beith in the West of Scotland Premier League last season, and with friendly wins over Lowland League duo, Tranent and Bo’ness United, it was clear that Haddington would be fully tested. The visitors made a good start but Pollok grabbed an early lead when a good left wing move was completed by a neat finish. Haddington recovered from this setback and more than held their own for the remainder of the half. In fact, had they converted some good chances, they could well have led at the interval. Tom Davies came close with a good shot before both Riley Haston and Ben Bathgate missed three good openings.

The home side were more to the fore after the break and two further goals in the 60th and 72nd minute saw them run out winners by three goals to nil. Haddington competed well against one of the top non league sides in the country and manager Scott Bonar will be looking to take the positive aspects into the competitive matches.
