The Hi Hi’s good start to their East of Scotland Premier League campaign came to an end last Saturday at a sunny Millfield. Almost 200 spectators saw an impressive Jeanfield Swifts side run out winners by four goals to one. There was little between the sides in the opening half hour, then Swifts hit a quickfire double to put them in a commanding position. The normally reliable home defence failed to clear the ball for the first goal and the second was a penalty kick given after a needless challenge by a home defender. Manager Scott Bonar made three changes early in the second half and almost immediately another avoidable penalty was conceded. This time goalkeeper Campbell McLellan pulled off a good save. However Swifts were always dangerous on the break and added another two quick goals to put the result well and truly beyond doubt. Riley Haston scored with a trademark long range free kick minutes from time but it was only a consolation goal for Haddington.
