The Hi Hi’s play their first match of 2023 at Millfield this Saturday when they entertain Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts. When these sides met at Dalgety Bay in August, the visitors went down by three goals to nil and to make matters worse, central defender Cammy Watson received a serious knee injury and he has still to make his competitive return. It’s hoped that the young defender will soon be fit enough to challenge for a place in the starting line up. The Swifts made a strong start to the season but after beating us, their form dipped and this culminated in a change of management team a few weeks ago. This change appears to have stemmed the flow of bad results and Swifts know that a win tomorrow will see them leapfrog the Hi Hi’s in the Premier Division table. They currently trail us by a point with both clubs having played 15 matches and no doubt manager Scott Bonar and his players are well aware that three important points are at stake. With games against most of the clubs around them in the league coming up in the next few weeks, the Millfield club have the opportunity to put some distance between them and the teams fighting relegation. Manager Bonar will be missing defender Zach Szemis for the next two games as he is serving a suspension following an ordering off at Innerleithen in early December.
