The month of January has been a complete wash out as far as competitive action is concerned. Home games against both Musselburgh and Penicuik had to be postponed due to frozen pitches and the latest casualty came last Saturday when the scheduled match at Sauchie fell foul to a waterlogged pitch. Manager Scott Bonar organised a couple of friendly games to keep his players in action. Last week they played First Division challengers Newtongrange Star at New Victoria Park and goals from Craig Reid and Aaron Ewins gave them a 2-1 win.
Last night (Tuesday), the Hi Hi’s were back in action at Ainslie Park in Edinburgh where they faced a strong Spartans side. The home side broke the deadlock in the closing minutes of the first half with a the Spartans goalscorer looking well offside. There were no more goals until the last few minutes when the city side added a second. This was a good work out for Haddington and they competed well against a side, two tiers above them.
