Haddington were keen to make amends after last weeks disappointing performance against Ormiston and they had the chance to do so when they entertained Stirling University at Millfield last Saturday. If anything, conditions were even worse than the previous week but the Millfield pitch was in excellent condition. The star of the first half was the Stirling goalkeeper who kept the Hi Hi’s at bay until the final minute of the half when Simpson headed home from a corner kick. Manager Joe Hamill introduced two trialists at the interval and both players played their part in a positive performance from the home side. It was one way traffic and Auriemma added a second from close range before McGarry scored a spectacular third. Trialist A headed in a fourth before Auriemma scored with a well placed shot. Trialist B completed the scoring in the gathering gloom when he showed some good footwork in the box before finding the net.
The Hi Hi’s can expect a tougher task this week when they entertain East Kilbride from the Lowland League when the sides meet in the last sixteen of the Football Nations Cup at Millfield – kick off is 1.00pm.
