Haddington paid their first visit to Dalgety Sports Centre, home of Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts, last Saturday in a Premier League match. The Hi Hi’s had shocked Swifts in a cup tie at Millfield last February and it was obvious from the start that the Swifts were fully prepared for the latest meeting with the experienced Greig Spence to the fore in their early forays. The visitors were holding their own but suffered a double blow midway through the half that saw the Swifts pick up all three points. An extremely generous penalty award saw Spence beat Cornet from the spot and then an avoidable defensive error saw the same player add a second. Haddington’s run of injuries continued in the first half with both Cammy Watson and Guy McGarry having to quit the action. These are two big players for the Hi Hi’s and this made a difficult situation even harder. The visitors pushed forward for most of the second half in an effort to salvage something from the match, but Swifts put the game to bed when they profited from another defensive lapse. To their credit Haddington kept pushing forward but they failed to breakdown the Swifts defence.
