After three odd goal defeats, the Hi Hi’s won their first game of the new decade when they beat Dalkeith Thistle at Millfield last Saturday. Manager Joe Hamill was without three central defenders and he played striker Michael Johnston at centre half and there was a recall for Jordan Keenan, newly back from a loan spell at Peebles Rovers, There was also a start for Aaron Congalton in midfield. Having been on the wrong end of a quick 1-2 at Glenrothes, Haddington did exactly the same to Dalkeith. Scott Moffat intercepted a wayward pass to open the scoring and almost immediately Ryan Hutcheson added a second with a neat lob. The home side created and missed a couple of excellent chances and were made to pay when Keenan was robbed in possession and former Athletic striker McMillan beat Cornet.

Dalkeith scored an unlikely equaliser seven minutes into the second half and it was game on. The home side introduced substitutes McGarry, Jack and Grant and they began to exert some pressure. A neat flick by Moffat sent Grant clear and when he was bought down, referee McLean pointed to the spot. Aurriema restored the home led with a well taken penalty. The same player put the result beyond all doubt when he broke through and rounded the goalkeeper before rolling the ball into an empty net.
