The Hi Hi’s bounced back from their Bonnyrigg defeat by taking all three points when they beat Blackburn United in overdue spring conditions at Millfield. The home side dominated the opening exchanges and Andy Jones set them on their way with a well taken goal in the second minute. Top scorer Scott Moffat looked to have headed in a second but the referee ruled that the ball hadn’t crossed the line. There was no doubt however when he headed in an Andy Jones cross on the half hour mark. A rash challenge by ‘keeper Alysandratos handed Blackburn a lifeline before the interval but the visitors squandered a penalty kick. Blackburn pulled one back through a George Cunningham own goal early in the second half but Scott Moffat quickly restored the two goal advantage after a cross from Chris Inglis was knocked back across goal and the Premier Division’s top scorer provided a clinical finish. This completed the scoring and the Hi Hi’s promotion quest continues. For a full report see Gordon Baird’s match report on the Facebook link.
