There is a lot of talk of league restructuring at the moment with a proposal to split the Lowland League into two divisions, seemingly having the support of the SFA. Normally clubs are given a full season to prepare for such events but some say that this could be in place for the start of season 25/26. That being the case, it’s reckoned that the top four sides in the Premier Division would be invited to take their place in tier 5 in the new Lowland League East. At the moment the top four consists of Musselburgh, Hill of Beath, Jeanfield Swifts and the Hi Hi’s.
The top three seem assured of finishing in these positions but only a few points separates Haddington from Dundonald who are in tenth spot. So the Millfield side will need to be at their best in their final five league matches if they are to finish in the top four. They entertain relegation threatened Luncarty at Millfield on Saturday and a win is essential if they have ambitions of stepping up. Haddington produced one of their best performances of the season when the sides met in Perthshire last October. The visitors were three up in the first 15 minutes and eventually ran out 7-1 winners with Luke Kennedy scoring a hat trick.
No doubt it will be closer on Saturday but Haddington know what they have to do!
