Since getting their planning permission for floodlights at the start of December, Millfield has been a hive of activity as contractors, JBEMS, have fought against both the elements and the clock to get the new floodlighting system installed. The target was to have a working floodlight system in place before the SFA Licensing Committee meeting which takes place in Glasgow this morning. The SFA visited Millfield at the end of January and apart from a couple of minor issues, the club were told that they ticked all the boxes apart from having floodlights. To miss the February deadline would mean that the club would have to wait another year before they could apply again. So despite the awful weather over the last few weeks, JBEMS successfully switched on the lights yesterday afternoon and evidence was sent to Glasgow. If the club’s application is approved by the SFA Licensing Committee, then it is passed to the Board for the formal award of the Entry Level Licence. So it will be some weeks before everything is completed.
The first team committee would like to place on record it’s sincere thanks to JBEMS, who have gone above and beyond to ensure that these challenging dates were met. Well done guys! Photos of the lights can be seen on both the Facebook page and Twitter account.
