On a glorious spring day at Millfield last Saturday, Haddington had little difficulty in beating visitors Pumpherston in a League Cup sectional match. Once again the crowd topped the 200 mark and home supporters saw their favourites blow the visitors away in a blistering start. The Hi Hi’s were three up inside twenty minutes and it could have been more. A double from Alessan Jones inside seven minutes more or less finished the match as a contest and top scorer Guy McGarry increased the lead having previously missed a couple of easier chances. To their credit Pumpherston stuck to their task and limited the home side to just two more goals. Manager Scott Bonar had secured the transfer of striker Dylan Tait from Craigroyston and he celebrated his Millfield debut with a second half double. Tait’s general play was impressive and he looks like that he could be a key man in the run in to the league which is the Hi Hi’s main objective this season. It looks like Haddington’s league cup section will be decided when Musselburgh Athletic visit Millfield on Saturday 2nd April. Another match that is sure to attract a big crowd.
