The Hi Hi’s slumped to a surprise extra time defeat to Craigroyston in the League Cup at Millfield last Saturday and they face a far stiffer test at Millfield this Saturday when they entertain East Kilbride Thistle in the third round of the Football Nation Qualifying Cup. East Kilbride are the current champions of the Lowland League, two tiers above the Hi’ Hi’s, and they showed their class last week when they inflicted a 5 – 0 defeat on Camelon Juniors, title contenders in the Premier League. Manager Joe Hamill’s task has been made even harder as both recent signings Scott Moffat and Shaun Hill are cup tied and several players have niggling injuries. Having been firm favourites to beat Craigroyston, Haddington will be rank outsiders to beat East Kilbride. The winners entertain Penicuik Athletic in quarter final the following Wednesday.
