The Hi Hi’s may look to be in a fairly comfortable position in Conference A – five points clear with only four league games to play and only one defeat and two draws in twenty four games played – but they face a real test at Millfield tomorrow when they play fourth placed Kirkcaldy YM. The Fifers boast an unbeaten run stretching back to early October and, by all accounts, should have beaten second place Leith Athletic last Friday evening. The Fifers ran the show and only a series of missed chances and a missed penalty allowed nine man Leith to take a point. Kirkcaldy’s league chances disappeared in the first couple of months of the season when they lost six league games including one to the Hi Hi’s who would have considered themselves a wee bit fortunate with the winning 3 0 margin.
This is Haddington’s toughest league test since they lost a key match to Leith at Millfield in February and no doubt manager Scott Bonar will be making sure that his players are fully prepared for the task in hand. A massive three points are at stake and Kirkcaldy will want to put a dent in Haddington’s promotion challenge. Good news for Millfield supporters is that both Corey Robertson and Nick Aitchieson have resumed light training with Euan Watson due to join them next week. However neither three will be ready for competitive action for a few weeks and team boss Bonar will be relying on the squad that picked up maximum points against Dalkeith and Arniston in recent weeks. Once again another big home support is expected to turn up for what could be a tense ninety minutes.
