The following statement was issued to parents and coaches of the club yesterday. In order to be totally transparent, the club have agreed to publish the statement.
‘Haddington Athletic FC were advised by Police Scotland on Thursday 28 June 2018 that a club official had been arrested and charged with indecent communication with a young person. The club were contacted as the official has a PVG through the club and this allows Police Scotland to contact all organisations with which the official was registered. Upon receipt of this information, an email was sent to all coaches, parents and guardians within the club informing them of the action taken by the club. The official was immediately suspended by the club and the club have also engaged with all appropriate agencies. As the incident did not involve a young person connected with the club in any way, it is not appropriate for the club to inform the wider public. If anyone has any concerns or information regarding the individual, then they should contact Police Scotland immediately.
