The tough games just keep on coming for the Hi Hi’s and they could hardly have been handed a harder Scottish Cup match when they were paired with the highly successful Auchinleck Talbot in the second Preliminary Round. The Ayrshire club were kingpins in junior football and although the silverware has not been collected as regularly since they stepped up to senior football, they were runners up in the West of Scotland Premier League last season. Auchinleck are expected to bring over 200 supporters to Millfield and there is a chance that the Millfield record attendance could be broken. For the first time ever professional stewards will be on duty at Millfield to help with the big crowd. The Millfield club have prepared thoroughly for the occasion and have met with the local police to discuss match arrangements. The club are also grateful to Knox Academy for assisting with parking and to Haddington Athletic Community Club for supplying extra volunteers to help with what should be a big day.
On the pitch the Hi Hi’s face a big challenge as Auchinleck are unbeaten this season in contrast to the home side who have lost their last three matches having won their first three. Manager Scott Bonar has skipper Nick Aitchison available again and there is a chance that Grant Rose could be fit to start. Although the Ayrshire side will be firm favourites to reach the first round of the national competition, the Hi Hi’s will want to give them a game and also give their supporters something to cheer about.
Season tickets are not valid for this match and supporters are asked to come early for the 3.00pm kick off.
