Hi Hi’s v Tranent – historical record update
Yesterday’s derby was the 205th on record since we played our very first game against Tranent, a 5-1 home defeat on 29 July 1939. After an unbeaten run of nine games lasting almost six years we’ve now lost the last four inside the past eight months – hopefully the pendulum will swing back favourably in the not too distant future, though we can’t know at this stage when our paths will next cross.
As far as winning streaks go, our own best lasted seven derbies between March 1955 and August 1957 while Tranent hold the record of nine, from April 1976 through August 1978.
