There was disappointment at the end of January when Haddington’s festive derby against local rivals Dunbar United was postponed due to a frozen pitch. The rescheduled Premier Division match is due to take place at Millfield this coming Saturday, 9th March.
Current form would appear to favour the Seasiders who have enjoyed their return to the top league. Whereas the Hi Hi’s have struggled a bit in recent weeks, Dunbar have maintained their momentum and they will be hoping to gain local bragging rights. In the first league meeting at New Countess Park back in September they overturned a half time deficit to claim all three points.
Haddington manager Scott Bonar has had to cope with a series of injuries to key players in recent weeks.. Mark McGovern’s comeback has been put on ice after the striker suffered another injury and skipper Neil Aitchison has been ruled out for a few weeks after picking up a knee injury last Saturday. Added to this, Corey Robertson is out through suspension. Bonar adds midfield man Ali Simpson to last weeks squad and he was delighted to see Seamus Russell make an impressive return to the side, his first game back since October. Defender Mikey Robertson also came through another match having been sidelined since September.
This encounter could attract Millfield’s biggest crowd of the season with both sets of supporters keen to see their favourites come out on top.
