Following the disappointment of the postponement of last Saturdays Premier League derby against Dunbar United at Millfield, the Hi Hi’s hope to welcome Penicuik Athletic as their first foots in 2024, this coming Saturday. First rain, then frost put paid to the much anticipated derby match but hopes are high that the Millfield pitch will be in good condition for this weeks’ game. When the sides met at Penicuik at the start of November, Haddington were disappointed only to come away with a point after dominating most of the play and squandering several good chances.
Manager Scott Bonar will be without Gabri Auriemma, who is suspended, and young defender Keir Russell who has established himself in the side this season. The former Kilmarnock youngster joined the club as a midfield player last season but has looked more comfortable in defence. Striker Mark McGovern is back in light training following a lengthy lay off with a damaged thigh muscle and team boss Bonar hopes have him back sometime in February. The Hi Hi’s other long term absentee Mikey Robertson is still someway away from making his return. Hi Hi’s supporters can also expect to see midfield man Seamus Russell back next month following his travels abroad.
