The Hi Hi’s knew that they faced a tough match at Millfield last week when Crossgates Primrose visited Millfiled. Now firmly established in the Premier League, the Fifers had made a solid start to their season. Manager Scott Bonar was able to bring back Shaun Hill and Gabri Auriemma into the starting line up, but he was without goalkeeper Dale Cornet and Cammy Watson. Once again it was a sun drenched Millfield and over 200 supporters turned up hoping to see a home win. Haddington made the perfect start when Shaun Hill took full advantage of hesitancy in the visitors defence and netted with an excellent finish. Unfortunately the lead only lasted a matter of minutes and slack marking at a corner saw the towering Cross beat goalkeeper McLellan, who was making his debut, with a powerful header. The home side fell further behind before the interval when a harmless looking through ball fell to a Primrose forward who finished easily. Brodie McKenzie was causing problems and he almost equalised with a powerful drive.
Haddington fought hard for the equaliser after the break and the introduction of Dylan Tait added more fire power to the attack. But Crossgates were still a danger forcing a number of corners and it took a tremendous point blank save from McLellan to keep his side in the game. Crossgates were under pressure in the final stages as the Hi Hi’s fought hard for the equaliser but their defence held firm although there were a few close calls in the Primrose goal area.
