Millfield hosts its fifth successive Saturday match this weekend when Conference A leaders Haddington entertain Conference B leaders Glenrothes in the second round of the King Cup. This competition is for all clubs below the Premier Division and so one the favourites will exit the competition at this stage. The Fifers enjoyed a comfortable 4 – 0 win at Hawick last Saturday while home supporters witnessed a fighting performance from the Hi Hi’s in overcoming Dunipace in dreadful conditions at Millfield, so a keen contest is anticipated. Manager Scott Bonar should have a few more players available but he will be without right back Corey Robertson who got first use of the showers last Saturday. Haddington reached this stage after winning a penalty shoot out following a 2 – 2 draw at Easthouses away back in July.
In previous seasons the Millfield playing surface would have struggled to cope with five successive Saturday matches at this time of year but thanks to the efforts of John Henderson, ably assisted by Jamie Martin, the pitch is in excellent condition and spectators should see a good game. The Hi Hi’s supporters got right behind the team last week and they can play their part tomorrow.
