The Hi Hi’s moved up to third place in the East of Scotland Premier League after a sparkling second half performance saw them beat Dundonald Bluebell by five goals to two at Millfield last Saturday.

There was a lively start to the game and after Joe Tait missed an early chance, Grant Rose was on the spot in the 4th minute to open the scoring when the Dundonald goalkeeper could only parry a goal bound header. Less than eight minutes later the home side found themselves behind. Bluebell skipper Aiden Hendry scored two almost identical goals in the 9th and 11th minutes when he connected with balls played in from the left. In between these goals, Gary Windram should have scored for Haddington as he broke clear and shot narrowly wide. The visitors had certainly recovered from losing that early goal and looked a threat going forward. In fact if home goalkeeper, Robbie Stirling, hadn’t tipped a looping shot onto the bar, Haddington could have been further behind. Luke Kennedy missed a chance to equalise when he took a heavy touch after some good work from Joe Tait. In a similar move in the 31st minute, Tait sprinted clear on the right and his low cross found young Aaron Ewins who netted from six yards. That ended the first half scoring.

It was all to play for in the second half and it was the Hi His who put themselves in a winning position when they scored two goals in three minutes early in the half. Gary Windram put his side back in front in the 55th minute when he raced clear on the left and found the net with a low finish. Three minutes later, Windram turned provider when he broke on the left and his pass found Luke Kennedy who netted from close range. Kennedy and Robbie Peffers were now pulling the strings in midfield with Windram a constant threat up front. Grant Rose completed the scoring when his well placed header from a Luke Kennedy free kick, found the net. There was still time for Kennedy to hit the bar as the Hi Hi’s looked for more goals.

This was a really good performance from the Hi Hi’s who had no failures in an excellent team performance.
