A close contest was expected when third placed Whitburn entertained fourth placed Haddington at Central Park, Whitburn. last Saturday, and so it proved to be with both clubs sharing the points in a 1-1 draw. The Hi Hi’s dominated most of the first half but were caught shorthanded in the 12th minute when Whitburn opened the scoring in a quick breakaway, against the run of play. The visitors maintained their dominance and Luke Kennedy was unfortunate to hit the post before Tom Davies shot narrowly past. The visitors lost Davies to injury with Joe Tait replacing him before the break. The second half was more evenly contested with the home side forcing a number of corners. However the equaliser arrived in the 68th minute when Windram and King combined on the left and King’s cut back was dispatched into the roof of the net by Joe Tait. Whitburn had the ball in the net from a corner but goalkeeper Robbie Stirling was clearly fouled as the ball came over. Then Luke Kennedy had the Hi Hi’s best chance to win it but his shot was well saved by the home goalkeeper.
