Conditions were perfect at Millfield last Saturday and a crowd of almost 200 turned up to see if the Hi Hi’s could build on their recent victories over Luncarty and Tynecastle. It was recognised that the home side faced a stiff test as visitors Hill of Beath were on a 10 game unbeaten run. There was not a lot between the sides in a competitive first half that had a lengthy delay to allow treatment to Robbie Peffers who eventually had to be stretchered off. It looked like the first half would end goalless but the Fifers struck twice in the substantial time added on for the injury delay. The home side started the second half on the offensive and their positive play eventually paid dividends when substitute Lucas McGarry headed a long diagonal ball across goal and Grant Rose netted with a well placed header. Soon after, there was an almighty scramble in the visitors goalmouth but the home side failed to apply the finishing touch. Haddington were now in the ascendancy but a couple of avoidable errors presented Hill of Beath with two further goals and all three points. Haddington’s misery was complete in the closing stages when goalscorer Grant Rose received a straight red card and misses the next two league games.

Haddington have no game this Saturday but they will be back in action on Saturday week when they visit newly promoted Whitburn who are enjoying life in their first season in the Premier Division. The following Saturday the Hi Hi’s visit another promoted side, Dunipace, who have also made a decent start on their tier 6 debut.
