It was a busy Saturday at Millfield last weekend when 3rd placed Haddington entertained 4th placed Dunipace in a Conference A match , sponsored by Ian Haston of IH Decorating Services.
Pre match and half time entertainment was provided by Haddington Athletic 2012s who played under the guidance of coaches Martin Stewart and Jamie Martin. The club also had visitors from Perth, Western Australia.
Phil Simich is a member of The Hut, a group of like minded worldwide football enthusiasts, who have generously sponsored the club for a number of seasons. Phil and his family took in Millfield as part of their European holiday and they saw it at its best on a warm, sunny September day.
A close match was anticipated and so it turned out with chances few and far between. The only goal of the game came in the 16th minute when Hi HI’s skipper George Cunningham headed in a corner from Gordon Harris. Haddington came close to adding to their tally in the second half when Gabri Auriemma struck the post. Sponsor Ian Haston selected home defender Cammy Watson as his Man of the Match.
Haddington entertain Premier Division side Camelon in the South of Scotland Cup next Saturday and the visitors will be favourites to end the Hi Hi’s five match unbeaten run.
