Conference B leaders Bonnyrigg Rose proved too strong for Haddington when the sides met in front of an excellent crowd of 361 at New Dundas Park last Saturday. Manager Joe Hamill’s side were up against it as the loss of Andy Jones, Hamish Law, Declan Quinn and Grant Rose meant that the Millfield manager had little offensive options. And so it proved but stand in striker Ali Simpson missed an early opportunity to put his side ahead. The home side broke the deadlock in the 27th minute and increased their lead with a disputed goal on the stroke of half time. The visitors were more adventurous after the interval but despite a number of corners failed to trouble the Rose ‘keeper. The Hi Hi’s need to start winning games if their hopes of top five finish are to materialise but it looks a tall order.
