On 17 January 1939 Haddington Athletic were founded at a meeting in the Town House, bringing to an end a near thirty year spell where the town had no Junior football club. Six months later the team were up and running, competing for most of the next seventy nine years in the Junior ranks (the war years of 1941 through 1946 brought brief affiliations with both amateur and juvenile football) racking up over 3000 games, and many ups and downs along the way. We think we’re in not too bad shape for our age, enjoying our first year in the new East Of Scotland League environment and looking forward to the challenges ahead.
