For the second successive week the Hi Hi’s conceded a late winner. A big crowd turned up at Millfield to see the home side entertain Bo’ness United in the semi final of the Alex Jack Cup. The visitors took an early lead but when they were reduced to 10 men before the interval, Haddington appeared to given a life line.
The home side dominated the second half and were soon on level terms when Shaun Hill curled in a tremendous goal in the 55th minute. The Hi Hi’s kept up the pressure and Jones broke through but blasted over and substitute Quinn had a couple of chances but the Bo’ness goalkeeper was in fine form.
A long range effort from Jones look goalbound until Murphy turned the ball round the post. There was another twist nine minutes from time when Darren Leslie picked up a second yellow card for a rash challenge and Bo’ness spotted their chance. Having been on the ropes for most of the half they broke upfield and grabbed the winner from close range.A real disappointment for Haddington who looked like they would book their place in the final but chances were squandered.
