The Hi Hi’s had to dig deep at Millfield on Saturday to overcome a spirited St Andrews side who threatened to run away with the game in the first half. Early pressure from the Fifers saw them take the lead in the ninth minute and only a series of super saves from Greek keeper Alysandratos kept the home side in touch. Paul Devlin produced the equaliser with a terrific header from a Bob Berry cross and the home side were fortunate to go in level at half time. The Hi Hi’s had to improve in the second half and manager Joe Hamill used all three subs in an effort to win three valuable points. Mark Torrance, Declan Quinn, and Stephen Scott all played their part in a fighting finish. Good play by Quinn set up up Scott for the vital second goal and the big striker was instrumental in Haddington’s third goal finished off by Andy Jones. These two goals in the last ten minutes gave the home side an important victory that takes them back to second spotin the league.

The Millfield side face a tough match this Saturday when they travel the short distance to Olive Bank to meet leaders Musselburgh Athletic.
